Insights gained from Networking
I try to be genuine friends with those that I associate with. Because of my friendships with them, I have been able to open up conversation and ask questions about their field of business. I have received much priceless information and pointers to help me out in my young and in-experienced stage in my career. I hope to encompass all that I have learned, while focusing on finance in schooling to make possible my entrepreneurial ventures and sustain my various businesses. I still email and converse with my mentors and those I am networking with and ask questions and receive insight into how they went about solving problems and growing/expanding their businesses. It interests me a lot, and they can see that so they are more than willing to share their experiences with me.
Internships
I am currently completing my internship with Madison Memorial Hospital. The internship is in Purchasing and Distribution and has a general focus in logistics and budget ordering. It associates with my future career plans because I want to have a broad understanding and background in all fields of business and be an entrepreneur to start up multiple businesses in these various different fields. I plan to use the skills and knowledge that I gained and apply it towards better and more efficient business practices. As I get into my 2nd internship I look to focus on the finance side and gain the experience I need to make my way into a career that will allow me to grow and eventually branch off and start my own business.

a. What is your career vision and why is this choice meaningful to you?
As of right now I am working on getting my own start up business going. Through my entrepreneurial ventures at this point I hope to gain some experience in personal business and if possible make profit. When I graduate and get into an entry level job I want to do it purely for my own personal gain. I want to learn the business of finance and the integral role of marketing, supply chaining, accounting, and CIT in the globalizing marketplace and be an entrepreneur in that market. My vision is to have several different businesses going at the same time and keep involved with all of them so that they grow and produce and are able to let me be financially free. This would mean for me to go international particularly in Asia and South America and set up, maintain, and improve efficiency of my businesses in the global market and really pulling out what I can from my schooling and past experience. As I do so I want to invest all the money I have back into those companies so that I can pay them off and so there is no debt; also whatever money I make I will invest in diverse ways and places so that they are investment-income and profitable self-sustaining systems (i.e. mutual funds, Roth IRA’s, stock market, investment banking, livestock, farming, real-estate, etc…) This is meaningful to me because I want to be able to leave the business world while I am young and spend my life with my family. I want to be there when my children grow up and I want to be with their children and my wife. I want to travel and invest my money so that I won’t have to worry about finances when I get to that point in my life.
b. What are your three most substantial accomplishments and why do you view them as such?
When I was 4 years old my family was in a serious accident where our car flipped 3 times; I broke through the back window and flew 40 feet. At the time, I had only suffered minor cuts and abrasions and there were no visible lasting injuries. But as I entered schooling I was diagnosed with having a learning disability. Every day I was called out of class to do exercises and training to get me functioning at the rate everyone else was. I hated school, I couldn’t make sense of it, and it bothered me for so long; I tried and tried and tried to focus. It has taken me all this time up through the last year or so of high school to overcome my struggles in learning, to finally reach this point and be able to focus has taught me to value my learning above anything else, because for so long I could not learn because I could not retain what I was learning. Through my early teen years I was involved heavily in The Boy Scouts of America. This taught me virtue in my actions, to do a good deed daily, and to be prepared and steadfast through whatever I might come across or go through. Through my involvement in the Boy Scouts I was able appreciate what many blessings where given to me and those I live with in such a great country that provides freedom and protects the freedoms of its people, I consider it an honor to be an Eagle Scout with two palms and one of my more substantial accomplishments. The most substantial of all I feel was serving a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I served in the Philippines where I learned and grew in so many ways and in so many unparalleled aspects of personal development, maturity, understanding, comprehension, love, charity, personal belief, self surety, confidence, faith, and hope that I can not express nor begin to explain the vastness of knowledge and individual growth that happened there. It was goal setting at its finest, and it’s only dependent was you, your own personal drive and diligence. Completing an honorable mission was for me and me alone, but it has influenced my every being and has changed me entirely.
c. What else would you like the Business Management Department to know about you?
You may and probably will meet many that are smarter than I, I admit that I am not much, but you will never meet somebody that will do more with such a pro-active role and positive attitude than I. I am diligent and am very passionate about my learning. I learn for myself and am finding ways to use that knowledge in my future career. I am about application and want to try things out, doing it and seeing the results. I am a problem solver and am pro-active in the things that compel me. I will try harder, work harder, and strive to be the best, and though I may not be; you will see my dedication stronger than anyone elses.
